They just don’t get it! Excerpts and comments on Bob Bennett loss in Utah. May 9 2010, Joe Leinweber Jr US Sen. Bob Bennett Ousted at Utah GOP Convention Utah GOP bars embattled US Sen. Bob Bennett from running again in stunning defeat
|
By BROCK VERGAKIS, The Associated Press, SALT LAKE CITY
Once-popular Sen. Bob Bennett fell victim to a growing
national conservative movement with his stunning defeat at
Utah's GOP convention.
He fell victim; to his own career, why does everybody have
to be a victim?
Delegates voted Saturday to bar the 76-year-old senator from
seeking a fourth term, making him the first congressional
incumbent to be ousted this year and demonstrates the
challenges candidates face from the right in 2010.
Bennett was under fire for voting to bail out Wall Street, co-
sponsoring a bipartisan bill mandating health insurance
coverage and for aggressively pursuing earmarks.
He did not read the memo; we are BROKE you jerk, wow we
are going to get back some of our money, or NOT, the
earmark comes back as an unfunded mandate????????
ALL MONEY COMES FROM THE PEOPLE NOT THE
GOVERNMENT THAT TAKES IT FROM US USING ITS IRS
GESTAPO TACTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"The political atmosphere obviously has been toxic, and it's
very clear that some of the votes that I have cast have added
to the toxic environment," Bennett told reporters Saturday,
choking back tears.
There’s no crying in politics!
"Looking back on them, with one or two very minor
exceptions, I wouldn't have cast any of them any differently;
even if I had known at the time they were going to cost me
my career."
MY CAREER?????????????? You are not supposed to be
there for your career, what about the people?????????????
Bennett told The Associated Press he wouldn't rule out a
write-in candidacy. State law prohibits him from running as an
independent.
"I do think I still have a lot of juice left in me," Bennett said
following his loss. "We'll see what the future may bring."
Bennett survived a first round of voting Saturday among
roughly 3,500 delegates but was eliminated when he finished
a distant third in the second round. He garnered just under 27
percent of the vote, while businessman Tim Bridgewater had
37 percent, and attorney Mike Lee got 36 percent. Lee and
Bridgewater will face each other in a June 22 primary after a
third round of voting in which neither got the 60 percent
necessary to win outright.
"Don't take a chance on a newcomer," Bennett had pleaded
in his brief speech to the delegates before the second round
of voting began. "There's too much at stake."
I love this defense, if we send common sense Americans
(which it appears Bennett may have been in the beginning)
that are not going to fall into the DC power trap we may
stand a chance. BUT IF WE SEND THE MESSAGE; NO MORE
INCUMBENTS AND TURN THE SENATE AROIUND EVERY 6
YEARS AND LIMIT OUR US HOUSE TO 8 THE CAREERISTS
WON’T SEE THE BENEFIT IN IT, AND WE JUST MAY GET
SOME PUBLIC SERVANTS THERE FOR THE PEOPLE!
Yet that urging, and Bennett's endorsements by the National
Rifle Association and former presidential candidate Mitt
Romney, did little to stave off anger toward the Washington
establishment from delegates.
"The bailout bothers me. That in and of itself is unforgivable in
my opinion," said delegate Scott White, a 58-year-old general
contractor from Taylorsville.
Bennett initially faced seven Republican opponents who said
he wasn't conservative enough for ultraconservative Utah.
Lee, 38, and Bridgewater, 49, campaigned largely by saying
they're better suited to rein in government spending than
Bennett.
"I will fight every day as your U.S. senator for limited
government, to end the cradle-to-grave entitlement
mentality, for a balanced budget, to protect our flag, our
borders and our national security and for bills that can be
read before they receive a final vote in congress," Lee said
in his convention speech.
Another good comment by him; I will fight, when, for who
and we are waiting, I never heard of this guy. Another empty
suit!
Bennett's defeat is the latest in a series of surprising political
developments in a year in which the tea party movement has
amassed growing power.
In January, then-little-known Republican Scott Brown won the
Massachusetts Senate seat long held by the late Edward
Kennedy. Several incumbents from both parties have opted
not to seek re-election as they face difficult challenges, and
GOP Florida Gov. Charlie Crist recently opted to run as an
independent in his Senate bid rather than face defeat at the
hands of his own party.
Other GOP candidates likely were eyeing Saturday's results to
see if it's an indicator of things to come.
In Arizona, Sen. John McCain is in a tough primary fight
against former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, a conservative talk-radio
host. In Kentucky, Rand Paul, the son of libertarian Rep. Ron
Paul of Texas, is gaining momentum in his challenge against
the GOP establishment's pick of Secretary of State Trey
Grayson to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning.
In New Hampshire, former Attorney General Kelly Ayotte is
battling three Republican challengers to fill the seat being
vacated by Republican Judd Gregg.
Opposition to Bennett couldn't be chalked up solely to anti-
incumbency fervor.
Neither of Utah's two Republican congressmen were at risk
of losing their seats, and Republican Gov. Gary Herbert easily
won his party's nomination. Last week, voters in primaries in
North Carolina and Ohio retained their incumbents, while
those in Indiana turned to a former senator — Republican
Dan Coats.
"I have authored bills to rein in the entitlement spending that
now makes up two-thirds of the federal budget," Bennett said.
"I've already voted for a balanced budget amendment three
times, and I will again while making certain that it won't be
turned into a tax increase for Democrats. Our tax burden is
already too high."
Some delegates, who tend to be more conservative than
other Utah Republicans, were also upset he's still in office
after promising to serve only two terms when first elected
in 1992.
How about that promise BOB?????????????????????????
"I think he's lost touch," said delegate Gary Crofts. "I'm
excited to get a new person in there and fire things up a little."
Romney introduced Bennett on Saturday — to a mix of cheers
and boos.
"Today, he faces an uphill battle at this convention," Romney
acknowledged in his speech. "Some may disagree with a
handful of his votes or simply want a new face. But with the
sweep and arrogance of the liberal onslaught today in
Washington, we need Bob Bennett's skill and intellect and
loyalty."
In his 2004 campaign, Bennett ran no television commercials
and won a third term in the general election with 69 percent of
the vote.
The 2010 campaign was clearly different. He acknowledged
he should have spent more time in Utah the past couple of
years letting GOP activists get to know him, but didn't
imagine Republicans would be angry enough with
Washington to target one of their own.
Recently, he has said part of his problem with delegates has
been that he doesn't go on conservative cable talk shows and
offer angry sound bites. Instead, he said he likes to work on
finding practical solutions.
Utah's unique nominating process also played a critical role
in his defeat. The 3,500 delegates wield enormous power
and can decide the fate of entire elections in a state of nearly
3 million. The winner of the Republican race is all but
guaranteed victory in November over Democratic nominee
Sam Granato because Utah is so overwhelmingly GOP.

It is not about the Tea Party or any other party, it is about
the American people, the hard working everyday folks
struggling to put food on the table, pay their bills, maybe
enjoy a meal out now and then, or a movie, or even a
vacation in the next state. These jerks in the US legislature
are the ultimate entitlement abusers, look at Pelosi and the
jet for her. Hey Pelosi, drive a Hugo back and forth to
California!
Fixing a Broken Government by Joe Leinweber Jr

1. Repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution -
eliminating Income tax and all the taxes on companies. Make
it Permanent, where it can never be added again.
2. Add an Amendment for a national sales tax on only new
items. Not for used/pre-owned items. Fix the system where
food is not taxed. Set it at 20% where it can't be increased
without a Constitutional Amendment approved by 2/3 of the
states. Without the corporate taxes (which are already
imbedded in prices) and all other taxes the Feds now impose,
costs of new products should come down in price. (Similar to
the Fair tax, but it cuts out the extra bureaucratic committees to
send back rebates for food based on the # of people per
household.)
3. No funding of any item that is not authorized in the
Constitution! No giving to programs that should be funded by
private donors i.e. the "arts", charities, IMF, United Nations
(kick them out of NYC, give them a year to find a new home)
4. Cut all social security benefits for anyone who isn't 62 or
legitimately disabled and unable to work. Drug addiction and
laziness is not a disability sorry, that's a life choice; you're on
your own.
5. No meddling with our 401K's, IRA's or interference or taxes
on income that we earn through our own thrift and savings for
our future. No penalties for drawing from our own personal
funds prior to whatever age 'they' think we should be allowed to
retire. It's our money, and we wouldn't take it out early if it
weren't an emergency. (Yes, there are several resolutions in
the works where they are separately trying to gain info on, and
take control of our 401K's and IRA's. . . so they can incorporate
it in the SS fund they stole. . . . and dole it out to who they DEEM
needy and when).
6. Repeal the 'interstate commerce clause' in the Constitution
that Congress has skewed into giving themselves power over
all aspects of our lives.
7. No new bills added without specifically stating where in the
Constitution, Congress has the authority to even suggest it. All
bills should be restricted to 1 subject, 1 bill and limited in
scope to the Constraints of the Constitution's 18 enumerated
powers and can be funded from the revenue supplied to the
Federal Government, no unfunded mandates.
8. Repeal the 17th Amendment - The Senate should go back
to original intent of the Constitution. Let the governors appoint
them, or the people elect them (let the states decide), but
remove the powers they took upon themselves in writing laws.
They are there only to represent the desires of the people of
their state, not their private interests.
9. Eliminate the Federal Reserve, it's a private company and
not subject to audit from the PEOPLE. Establish our money
system without the Federal Reserve and have the gold or
assets to back every $ before any more money is printed. It's
been done before, it can be done again. Or back the money
with Federal lands.
10. Close our borders, secure the borders, we have been
invaded by all kinds of foreigners by illegal means. It is already
a Felony to cross the borders without proper documentation
and /or approval. Put guards on our borders that have passed
extensive background tests and have them polygraph every 6
months. Give them orders to shoot to kill and all illegal’s from
any country need to be sent out of our country and back to
where they came from. If they commit a crime in this country,
and they are not citizens they should never be allowed re-entry.
Illegals from any country do not have American Civil Rights!
Once the above have been accomplished:
11. Follow the 20th Amendment, Section 2 -”The Congress
shall assemble at least once in every year, and such meeting
shall begin at noon on the 3rd day of January, unless they shall
by law appoint a different day." (This was never meant to be a
full time Career.) Of course, the pay should be reduced to
actual time worked in home districts and while Congress is in
session with appropriate but limited travel pay, (not the padded
travel pay they get for family style trips around the world).
12. No Lobbyists or special interest groups are allowed access
to US Legislators or the President or Vice President during
their term.
13. Supreme court judges will come from the Federal District
courts and will be on a rotation of 6 years with each term
staggered and the each will serve their 6th and final year as
Chief Justice. They may only hear matters that are in direct
contest to the Constitution.
14. Affirmation of separation of church and state is not worded
as such in the Constitution and will not be accepted as an
argument on either side of this issue. The practice of ones
religious affiliation or the lack thereof is guaranteed equitably
by the Constitution. Only in the event the US Federal
government or a state government attempts to establish a
specific denominational practice or ideology to be mandated
for the population at large does the question of church and
state have standing in any court. This means simply that the
practice, at any level, of prayer, devotion to God or other
denominational beliefs and or ideologies or the lack of such
belief is guaranteed free and unhindered practice of such belief
by the First Amendment which simply states; Congress shall
make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom
of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably
to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of
grievances. To bring forward by petition, resolution or grievance
any implication that the free practice of any religious affiliation
or the lack there of could be unconstitutional will be considered
herein after a violation of a persons right to free practice of
those beliefs and subject to fines based on contempt of court
laws.

Mr. Obama/Sotero headed to Canada for G-8 Summit.
In the last three days we have had the Disclose Act, Banking Reform, a key Gen Fired and a deal made
with the Russian Pres for access to Silicone Valley on the heals of the discovery of natural resources in
Afghanistan specifically Lithium?
Will Disclose and Bank Reform Acts open the door to tap our 401K’s? The Gulf Coast still undergoing
damage from oil spill. German Chancellor tells Obama to stop spending and get control of debt and come
up with solutions as Greece begins to sell off Islands and other assets. Are we next? What’s my bid for the
Statue of Liberty since we have no need for it anymore? How about the Liberty Bell would Soros like it as a
trophy for his efforts to destroy America? The Washington Monument, For Sale, sealed bid only. And
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are retiring as the Bank Reform bill is appropriately named after them the
architects of our economic disaster, thanks for the memories of Fannie and Freddie whose mistakes we will
pay for, thanks for the idiotic decisions you’ve made over the years that have increased your financial well
being and thanks for screwing up my country you no good SOB’s.
I really appreciate the absence of representation and that Corker and Alexander have spoken up and said
absolutely nothing. Yes thank you all in DC Land.
What the Hell Just Happened?

To a Patriot, Friend and True American,
Fred Childress, May 1952 to July 2010, on a solo motorcycle trip around his country was killed in a
vehicular incident in Montana.
The Lord has always had an agenda that often confuses us and causes us to wonder where things fit in His
plan.
Those that don't believe or tend to think we are on our own, and He, the Father, has given us the tools to
achieve our own greatness, humility, commitment or demise sits patiently to watch our journey. Some follow,
some get in the way, some do nothing and then there are those rare, not so special in their own minds,
unselfish, courageous, outspoken, self educated, independent minded, spirits who inspire and motivate
those around them. Humble, yet extroverted, they are the likes of those that found new lands, new ideas,
innovators, inventors, the developers of new ideas and the guardians of liberty and freedom, and especially
our Founding Fathers.
In our life we may aspire to be one of these people. In tune to a greater power that does not succumb to the
worldly and having insight that comes from the heart and fueled by a strong spirit that is grounded in free
thinking and free living. We may also be fortunate enough to know one of these people in our lifetime, I had
the opportunity to know, but only shortly and not as well as I would have liked to.
The boyish smile was the face of the sincere and genuine man known as Fred Childress. Passionate and
compassionate, Fred saw the plight of this nation was more its apathy than its politicians. Not just a
bystander, but a leader, speaking and acting out to raise awareness and educate those around him. I will
call you my friend as you honored me with your attention to what I had to say, A confidant who offered
counsel and advice for the task I had taken on.
Fellow patriot, our passion as strong as our hope and our resolve stronger than both to prevail.
See you, when I see you, I hope, as I have not been as good a man as you have Fred, put in a good word
for me when my time comes.
Your Friend and Fellow Patriot,

A commentary on Wikipedia; John James Duncan, Jr. also known as Jimmy Duncan, (born July 21, 1947) is a Tennessee Republican politician, representing Tennessee's 2nd congressional district based in Knoxville. He was first elected to Congress in 1988, in a special election to succeed his late father, John Duncan, Sr. and elected to the seat for a full term in his own right the same day. He has been re-elected every two years since then from a district that has been held continuously by Republicans (or their antecedents) since 1859. He has never faced a serious or well-funded challenge for reelection, and was reelected without major-party opposition from 1994 through 2000.
