Should You Believe The Republicans’ That “This Time” They Will To Keep their Pledge?
“Those Who Fail to Learn from History are Doomed to Repeat it.”

So Let us look at the past 22 years of Political History.
1988 Election In the Presidential Debates, President Bush empathically stated, “Read my
lips. No New Taxes.” In 1990, President Bush broke his campaign promise and, as a direct
result, the Democrats swept into both houses of Congress and eventually won the
Presidency in 1992.
1994 Election In response to President Clinton and the Democrats efforts to push for
National Health Care, the Republicans made Ten Promises to the American People known
as “The Contract with America.” The Republican Party promised that if the American People
would give the Republican Party majority control in both houses of Congress, that within the
first100 days, they would bring these ten issues to an “open floor vote”. History shows that
little was passed, and term limits was one of the first issues to die a quick death.
1996 Election Even though the Republican Party had majority control in Congress, they
blamed the failure of the passing of these Ten Promises on the Democrats and
President Clinton. The Republicans asked the American people to give them even
greater Republican margins, which the American People did in 1996 and 1998.
2000 Election The Class of 1994 “forgot” their promise of term limits of 6 years; and even
though the Republican Party had an even greater margin of majority control in Congress,
they continued to blame the Democrats and President Clinton. The Republicans asked
the American people to give them the White House, which the American People trusted their
promises and Elected President Bush.
2002 & 2004 Election Even though the Republican Party had an ever increasing margin of
majority control in Congress, they continued to blame the Democrats. The Republicans
asked the American people to give them even more Republicans margins, which the
American People trusted their promises and elected more Republicans.
2006 Election After having both houses of Congress and the White House for 6 years, the
Republicans increased Medicare Prescription entitlements and Federal Spending by 55%
(American Institute for Economic Research). By 2006, the American people lost
confidence in the Republican leadership and gave the Democrats control of both houses
of Congress.
2008 Election The American People were not impressed with the Grand Old Party’s 72
year old presidential candidate, John McCain and decided to give a young, charismatic
Democrat a chance to be President.
2008 – 2009 Nationwide, Americans became increasingly shocked at the reckless spending
and liberal agenda of President Obama and the Democrats. Despite every peaceful protest
imagined in our nations 234 year history, the Democratic Party would not be deterred from
achieving their liberal agenda.
2010 Election After trying to politically destroy the Tea Party Candidates in every
primary, The Republican Party now wants the American People to give them “one-more-
chance” by proposing a vague, 21-page “Pledge to America.” And if the American
people give their trust to the Republican Party, after they are elected (as they
always have done for the past 22 years); they will blame the Democrats and
President Obama as to why the Republican Party could not keep their pledge.
