RaganRat Terrier Kennel is located south of Knoxville, near the foothills of the Great Smoky
Mountains in Greenback, Tennessee. We welcome scheduled visitors. We will ship puppies,
but we like to meet new owners if possible. Past clients have scheduled mini-vacations to
Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park before picking up a
puppy. Depending on where you live, we help arrange delivery since we travel to dog shows.
We raise Rat Terriers and American Hairless Terriers for the best structure, health and
temperament. Not only are our dogs family gems and pampered Show Dogs, but also farm
working animals. We have placed dogs in homes for Agility, Rally, Obedience, Police Work,
Falconry Hunting, Service Animal work and so much more. Since we strive to breed the best
structurally, our dogs are built to last and not break down during the job given them. The
American Hairless Terrier is a dog that may be perfect for allergy sufferers. The possibilities
are endless because our dogs can truly Do It All!
Several of our dogs have appeared in different media. While attending Westminster 2014, The
New York Times interviewed Darice Ragan and her two friends (who own RaganRats) and
printed a very nice article. We also appeared in an article in The Canine Chronicle. Lastly, our
local paper, The Daily Times, wrote a nice article about our Westminster win.
Our very own Keyno is ON THE COVER of the 2013 Rat Terrier Browntrout calendar. Keyno
has appeared in Browntrout calendars for several years and will be the 2015 February boy.
Darice Ragan was the photographer of her AHT naked boy, Jettzen, standing in the creek,
which was selected for the COVER of UKC’s Bloodlines Magazine. The Knoxville News
Sentinel wrote an article about the Ragans, featuring three of their Rat Terriers, and the Great
Smoky Mountain Dog Club which the Ragans founded. Our rattie, Bailey, was hired to model a
Petsafe collar for the company's Contain N' Train In Ground Fence national package.
RaganRat was part of the Rat Terrier Magabook that hit the stands July 2006. Special thanks to
writers Susan McCullough and Farrell R. Clancy for including us in the articles “The Rattie
Resume” and “Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe”. Dog Fancy, December 2007, includes the Rat
Terrier and puppy photos, by Diane Lewis, which the litter was sired by one of our very own
home-bred boys.
WANT A PUPPY? We may have 2 to 4 litters available during the year. Our puppies are litter
box trained. They're also imprinted daily and are well-adjusted, happy puppies. Our dogs are
registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and United Kennel Club (UKC). They are also
OFA certified and health tested. To be considered for a RaganRat, please fill out the Puppy
Application. You might also consider a retired show Adult dog!
It's a pleasure to share our dogs and K9 tales with others. We love to see and hear the
happiness our terriers provide new owners. If you want to show and win prizes, go hunting,
are handicapped in need of a companion service dog, or just need a friend, we have the
